Why Earn a Bachelor‘s in Engineering Technology Management at Indiana State?

Our Engineering Technology Management program builds technical expertise and managerial skills that prepare graduates to bridge the gap between engineering and business, and to achieve management success in industries requiring efficient, technology-driven operations and innovation.

Accelerate Your Career

The ETM Program is designed primarily for transfer students who have earned an ABET-accredited associate degree in engineering technology or a closely related field, and who now wish to complete a bachelor’s degree geared toward management positions.

The program builds on the student’s technically focused associate degree in engineering technology; the EMT degree-completion coursework is focused on managing those technologies, personnel, and resources.

Our program’s mission is to accelerate the careers of engineering and technical managers by expanding their ability to communicate, build teams, inspire others, and make data-driven decisions. Our vision is for EMT graduates to become the most sought-after industry managers.

Learn from Our Excellent Faculty

The Applied Engineering and Management Department offers small class sizes, allowing for individual attention. Courses are taught by professors with a diversity of expertise and experience in the field. Most hold doctoral degrees. All are dedicated to student success.

Enrich Your Learning with Great Resources and Opportunities

Coursework is centered in the University's John T. Myers Technology Center, which has more than 20 state-of-the-art laboratories filled with the latest equipment and supplies.

In addition to coursework, students may participate in a number of activities and organizations, including: the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME); the American Society for Quality (ASQ); the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP); the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE); the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME); and others.

What You’ll Learn in the Engineering Technology Management Program

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology Management includes coursework in leadership, quality, industrial safety, research and development, production planning, plant layout, project management, and other engineering management topics. A senior project is also required.

Career Possibilities for Engineering Technology Management Majors

Engineering management melds the technological problem-solving savvy of engineers with the organizational, administrative, and planning abilities of managers who oversee complex enterprises, such as product development, manufacturing, and construction, from conception to completion.

Graduates are well prepared for professional roles in production, project management, sales and marketing, consulting, training, and research and development. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects overall employment in management occupations to grow 8 percent from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations.

Accreditation

Indiana State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
