Program Availability

The Lean Six Sigma Certificate program is open to currently enrolled students who wish to increase employability. The program is easily integrated with most majors and can be completed in a 12-month period. In particular, the certificate program is best suited for the Technology Management Accelerated MS program. Students should consult with their advisors before enrolling in courses to ensure suitability and to plan their program of study.

The certificate program in Lean Six Sigma is also open to working professionals. Prior professional work experience is beneficial. In the Lean Six Sigma Certificate Program, students learn skills related to the Lean Six Sigma methodology – a fact-based, data-driven philosophy intended to remove operational waste and improve productivity. The certificate program is well-suited for working professionals who wish to pursue careers in manufacturing, construction, mechanical design, and other service and technology industries.

Note that a certificate from Indiana State University is an educational program and is different from a professional certification. Certification is conferred by professional organizations based on work experience, completion of work projects, passing professional exams, and other criteria.

Courses

Unlike many certificates, the certificate in Lean Six Sigma certificate consists of four credit-bearing courses, totaling 12 credits in the undergraduate program. You will study the principles of statistics, quality analysis, Six Sigma green belt, and Six Sigma black belt.

Transfer Credit

Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit can be applied toward completion of the program per Indiana State's transfer guidelines.
