The Master of Science in Technology Management is a traditional, on-campus program offered on the Indiana State University campus in Terre Haute, Indiana. The program is open to U.S. and international applicants who satisfy admission requirements.

The Master of Science in Technology Management (MSTM) program is designed to further the academic preparation and professional advancement of individuals with a bachelor’s degree in, and professional orientation toward, technology management or a similar industrial technical field.  

 

The program offers you the theoretical and practical learning experiences needed for leadership positions in industry or for doctoral-level programs such as the University’s Technology Management PhD.   

 

Working with your advisor, you will use electives in the program to create an individualized contract of study that best fits your prior coursework, experiences, and goals.

Career Possibilities for Technology Management Graduates

The Technology Management MS program builds upon your technical bachelor’s degree to prepare you for leadership positions in which you manage projects, proactively manage changing technical systems, and communicate the above to internal and external constituencies. The program is also excellent preparation for doctoral programs, including the Technology Management PhD.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects overall employment in management occupations to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2022 to 2032. The median annual wage was $107,360 in May 2022, higher than the median annual wage for all occupations.

Admission Requirements and Instructions

Listed below are admission requirements and application instructions for the Technology Management MS program.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

A baccalaureate degree granted by a regionally accredited institution (for international students, a degree granted by a recognized institution). The most appropriate baccalaureate degrees will be ABET or ATMAE-accredited or meet the curriculum standards of ABET or ATMAE. 

A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.7 in all undergraduate course work; or a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work; or a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in the applicant's major field of study; or a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in all courses taken at the graduate level. 

The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is required. For unconditional entrance to the program, the applicant must score at the 40th percentile or above on the GRE Quantitative, Verbal, and Analytical categories. To be considered for admission, applicants must have their official test score report sent directly from the testing center to: Indiana State University, Graduate Admissions, Welcome Center, 318 North Sixth Street, Terre Haute, IN, 47809.

International applicants must submit official scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or provide equivalent evidence of language proficiency. To be considered for admission, applicants must have their official test score report sent directly from the testing center to: Indiana State University, Graduate Admissions, Welcome Center, 318 North Sixth Street, Terre Haute, IN, 47809. 

Application Instructions

The following are the steps to apply for the Technology Management MS program at Indiana State.

How to Apply 

Submit a nonrefundable application fee of $45.00 (U.S. citizens and permanent residents) or $65.00 (international students) payable by Visa, MasterCard, or check or money order payable to Indiana State University. Submit payment to: Indiana State University, Graduate Admissions, Welcome Center, 318 North Sixth Street, Terre Haute, IN, 47809. 

Submit official transcripts from all colleges previously attended. To be official, transcripts must be sent directly from the college attended to: Graduate Admissions, Indiana State University, Welcome Center, 318 North Sixth Street, Terre Haute, IN, 47809. E-transcripts should be sent to admissions@andadoor.com.  

Submit official GRE scores. To be official, scores must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to Indiana State University. 

International applicants must submit official scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or provide equivalent evidence of language proficiency. Next Steps

Once admitted, you will receive notification from the University as well as your University ID number needed to activate your University Username on the MyISU Portal. The Portal offers access to online registration, University records, and other important University services, including email and University announcements.

Note: Returning ISU students must apply for re-admission if they have not attended Indiana State University for more than two calendar years.
